It installs directly onto any flat surface, such a concrete or plasterboard. It’s supplied with all fittings and brackets, even including a transformer too.

The only thing you need to worry about it connecting to mains power, thanks to the 85-265V input. The 40mm depth allows you to hide the transformer behind the panel itself.

Once everything is in place, the 12W of energy help power a massive 920 lumens of light – an equivalent non-LED light would use 80W to deliver the same level of brightness.

The quality of light is great too, as it has a colour rendering index (CRI) of 80 – so objects appear really close to their true colours, as if they were under natural light.

There aren’t a lot of objects that wouldn’t be lit up too, thanks to a beam angle of 120^o, ensuring a wide spread of light.

IP44 rated protection allows you to use this panel light in areas with large concentrations of water – the kitchen or bathroom for example, as it can withstand splashes from any direction.

All these features aren’t short lived either – as this particular panel light has a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours. If you’re using it for an average of 8 hours per day, that’s well over 15 years of use!

Can I Customise Anything On This Panel Light?

Yes! The first is the colour that it emits, and you have 3 options – the first 2 being warm white (3000K) and cool white (6000K). The only difference between them is the perceived warmth of the light given off.

Warm white as its name suggests, gives off a very comforting kind of light, similar to the kind emitted by traditional halogens. This is perfect for the living room or bedroom.

Cool white is brighter and icier than warm white, and is much better in places like the kitchen or office where it is important they remain well lit.

The third colour choice is triple white cycle. This switches between warm white, cool white, and day light (4000K) every time the light is switched back on again.

Day light is a middle ground between the previous 2 colour temperatures, combining the comfort of warm with the brightness of the cool.

The other option you’ll have is whether you want dimmable LEDs in it. This allows you to alter the brightness and create different moods.

Please be aware though that dimmable LEDs require a trailing edge dimmer, as conventional leading edge dimmers might not work and could damage the bulbs.

Why Should I Switch To LEDs?

There are loads of reasons why LEDs are the future of lighting. One of the more topical reasons is how environmentally friendly they are.

LEDs consume far less electricity as they are so much more efficient, losing ten times less energy to heat wastage when compared to conventional halogens. This means that there are far less fossil fuels burned to power them.

LEDs also don’t have any harmful chemicals inside them like fluorescent lights do – which contains Mercury in vapour form. If exposed to it, Mercury is highly detrimental to your immune system, internal organs and brain. It’s even worse for wider natural ecosystems, and most people’s exposure to it comes via contaminated fish.

This makes fluorescent lights quite difficult to recycle – which is a problem LEDs don’t suffer from, furthering their green credentials.
